What the pandemic has taken away from us the most is the freedom to meet other people and do many group activities. For children, this vision of the "new world" is something anomalous, something that goes against being a child.
Teens or children must have moments of carefree and freedom to meet friends and have fun. Youth Sport Trust and Sport England are playing a super interesting role right now!
Youth Sport Trust is a children's charity that works to provide every child with the life-changing benefits of play and sport. Sport England is a long-term governing body responsible for the growth and development of grassroots sport and the involvement of more active people across England. As always, sport can and must play an crucial role.
Youth Sport Trust & Sport England, with funds from the National Lottery, have created the "Active Recovery Hub".
The main goal is to help children achieve 60 minutes a day of movement and activity during school and after school. New and free resources are being offered to help authorities and families get into this process the right way.
More than 18,800 schools already take part in the School Games nationwide. A total of 38 sports organizations provided content and expertise to create a wide range of inclusive activities.
These are some example of the activities:
In Tokyo Ten virtual active breaks, 10 minutes of activity to move from Travel to Tokyo
Resources for minigames, designed by the Sense charity to help people with disabilities be more active
A 30-minute virtual YST After School Sports Club. With the hosts including the English footballer Rachel Yankey and the English netballer Sasha Corbin
Move Crew, designed by ukactive Kids and Nike to help youngsters unlock 60 minutes of recommended daily activity with activity missions
Introductory package to orientation activities
This could be a model that should also be replicated in other states to improve children's lives and make them feel better during this "new normal".
We must always look for a way to deal with problems, overcome them and find the best way to live. In this period it is essential to remain "united" and mentally healthy, hoping for a better future through sport.
